The Two Fatalities Identified in the Providence Campus Incident as Police Continue Hunt for Killer.

The pair of scholars who lost their lives in Saturday’s violent attack on the university campus had tributes paid to them on Monday – while an intensive search for their killer persisted following the freeing by authorities in Rhode Island of the single suspect detained in connection in the case.

Tributes for Ella Cook

The student Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was described as “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, per the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which honored her memory at a service on Sunday.

She served as the vice-presidency of Brown’s division of College Republicans of America, as the club stated. The White House press secretary also expressed sympathies online, stating: “It's indescribable. Thinking of her loved ones and companions, above all her mom and dad.”

MukhammadAziz Umurzokov

The other deceased individual was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, from Uzbekistan in his initial year at the Ivy League university, family members said.

Umurzokov’s identity was officially acknowledged by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. His ambitions were lofty of entering the field of neurosurgery and aiding others,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a memorial statement.

The Shooting Incident

Nine more persons were wounded in the violent event in the engineering department of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Authorities said by the end of Sunday that a man aged 24 detained in a raid at a hotel about around 27 kilometers from the campus earlier in the day was set to be freed.

“We have a murderer out there,” declared Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Occasionally a probe goes down a path, and then you have to regroup and go in another, and that’s exactly what has happened over the last approximately one day.”

Ongoing Concerns
