The Showrunner Discloses He Has an Idea of How The Apple TV+ Show Will Conclude... Currently.

The creative mastermind never anticipated that Pluribus would become a cultural phenomenon. “The viewers have been incredible,” Gilligan says. “I did not foresee the show being as passionately debated as it is, and it makes me deliriously happy.”

Now that Season 1 of the hit series coming to an end—and the next chapter greenlit and underway—Gilligan and his team opened up about the viewer reception and whether it will impact the narrative path of Pluribus.

About the Incredible Audience Reaction

One could easily to get swayed by the constant speculation and audience predictions about Pluribus. Gilligan, however, is doing his best to steer clear of all that.

“The experience is akin to constantly eating your favorite dessert and being laughing uncontrollably,” he says. “It's wonderful, but I get wind of it anecdotally, and that's on purpose. I have never looked myself up on the internet, nor do I ever intend to. It's not a lack of interest. It's a rabbit hole I know I would fall into and then I'd be living in squalor from the hardware store and I'd rarely emerge from my living room.”

In spite of Gilligan’s best intentions, there’s it's impossible to ignore the overwhelmingly positive response to the series. The most practical strategy is to acknowledge it humbly and try not to let it alter the course of the show.

“It is not our goal to tailor anything,” says writer and executive producer Alison Tatlock. “Our storytelling is not changed by online forums.”

“It's wiser to keep our focus on the work,” Gilligan concludes.

A Pressing Query: Has the creator See the Finale of Pluribus?

Considering the writers are not listening by fan response, does that mean they already know how Pluribus will finally conclude? Essentially yes… in a way.

“There are some compelling concepts about the ultimate destination,” Gilligan says. “however, we remain prepared to discard a good idea for a more brilliant plan. That philosophy has guided us in excellent shape on Better Call Saul and on Breaking Bad even before that. We scrap ideas when we find a more perfect path and I expect we'll continue doing that.”

On the other hand, if all else fails, director and writer Gordon Smith has a pretty funny idea to serve as a last resort.

“I constantly suggest that it's all in a snow globe, and that we'll pull back at the end and we're in there,” he says humorously, “but no one is buying it.”

Then again, why not reference the legendary finales?

“My dream is Carol to awaken with Bob Newhart there,” he jokes.

Pluribus is currently available on the streaming service.
