2K Games has secured a seasoned producer from Respawn Entertainment to lead the studio crew at their internal studio, which is currently crafting the upcoming over-the-shoulder action-packed title known as Project Ethos.

Leadership Transition Comes After Poor Response

The new appointee takes on the leadership position at the development studio following the dismissal of former leader the ex-Sledgehammer Games executive, who was reportedly let go due to Project Ethos' underwhelming unveiling last fall.

Recently, the company's top executive a key figure updated staff about this organizational change through an internal memo, which highlighted that playtesting had indicated the need for a distinct direction.

Ismailer stated that the developers is now overhauling Project Ethos with a revised focus, aiming to better meet gamer demands.

Trend of Strategic Acquisitions

The news echoes a similar move taken by 2K Games in the summer, when they brought on an industry veteran from the Diablo team to work on the BioShock development group.

The gamer responses from last fall’s the game playtest was enlightening. It validated the promise of a action-packed game but made clear we still had improvements to make. It revealed the necessity for a more distinct identity.

The appointee presently serves in the role of executive producer and head of production at the renowned studio for their flagship title. He earlier was employed at Treyarch and Activision in multiple development positions on the Call of Duty series, and, earlier in his career, had stints at 2K and Electronic Arts.

Game Details and Concept

Project Ethos was announced in last year in conjunction with a early access event. Then, the developers portrayed the title as a "no-cost, 3rd-person roguelike hero shooter and an exciting step forward on the style."
