Israelis have gathered throughout the country to remember the second anniversary since the Hamas-conducted attack on 7 October 2023, as discussions continued in Egypt over a resolution to the war in Gaza.

The assault resulted in over 1,200 people killed and 251 others taken away to Gaza as captives. It was the most most fatal day for Jewish people since the World War II.

Israel reacted by initiating a defensive operation in Gaza which has claimed more than 67,000 people, based on figures from the area's Hamas-controlled health ministry. Its statistics are considered reliable by the UN and other global organizations.

"The aggressive adversaries have struck forcefully, but they have not overcome us," the leader stated on Tuesday.

He also promised to "accomplish all the objectives of the war: the release of all the abducted, the removal of the Hamas regime and the promise that Gaza will no longer pose a danger to Israel".

Remembrance Ceremonies Across Israel

The Israeli government postponed official commemorations until 16 October - after the end of the festive season - but ceremonies still took place around the country on Tuesday.

A memorial ceremony for the families of Israelis who died in the Hamas assault was held in Tel Aviv. Arranged by the families themselves, it was broadcast throughout Israeli broadcast stations.

Some time earlier, a silent tribute was observed across the country.

Peace Talks in Egypt

Simultaneously, the conflicting parties' delegations convened in the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh for a follow-up session of mediated discussions to examine the provisions of the proposal.

A senior Palestinian official knowledgeable about the talks revealed that an late session of indirect talks commenced at 7 PM local time.

The source stated the earlier meeting concluded without tangible results, amid differences over the recommended Israeli retreat arrangements from Gaza and over assurances Hamas demands to guarantee Israel does not restart combat after the first phase of the agreement.

He added that the discussions are "tough and have not yet deliver any real breakthrough," but noted that mediators are working hard to narrow the gaps between the conflicting groups.

Essential Points in Talks

  • A lasting halt to fighting
  • The swap of the captives still detained by Hamas for detainees from Gaza
  • The withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza
  • Arrangements for assistance deliveries
  • Post-war management of the region

Public Feeling

In Tel Aviv's public square earlier, young Hagar - whose sibling lived through the assault on the outdoor event, where 378 people were killed and many more were captured by Hamas militants - explained: "Nowhere seems like home now and until all the hostages return not a single person will be secure."

"When we see everybody home returned, we can feel relief once more. Then we can begin to heal," she concluded.

Near the prime minister's residence in Jerusalem, people congregated to express their solidarity for the families of the abducted. Israel reports 48 stay in captivity in Gaza, 20 of whom are thought to be living.

Demonstrator Atalia Regev remarked: "We need do any agreement needed for the abducted to return. But we really want guarantees that we will be protected."

Research now frequently demonstrate that around 70% of the population prefer the hostilities to conclude in return for the release of the captives.

Palestinian Conditions

At the location of Nova festival, mourners came together to remember the victims.

From the site, the sound of Israeli air strikes and shelling could be heard just a short distance away in Gaza, where local people indicated the heavy Israeli bombardment persisted.

In Gaza City, air and artillery strikes were documented in the dawn of that day in the western neighborhood, area and locality areas and in the eastern neighbourhood of Sheikh Radwan, as well Shati refugee camp to the northwestern area.

"Once the night comes, the fear comes with it," displaced Gaza City resident a mother, whose young son was lost his life by an Israeli air strike previously, shared.

"Me and my three children are afraid of the bombings. During nighttime we are resting together, holding each other, particularly my little child who places his face on me throughout the night."

"Constantly we look at the news to see developments. And I'm afraid that this truce will not be finalized and that the war will return to us."

Health Situation

The healthcare center in Gaza City reported it had accepted the bodies of six people by the afternoon, including a trio who lost their lives in an Israeli bombing in the southern al-Sabra neighbourhood.

Another medical facility in the southern urban center of Khan Younis indicated additional victims had been brought there. An individual was killed by Israeli troops while seeking aid to the south region, medical staff stated.

The region's health ministry said a significant number of the {territ
