Devoted fans of Ariana Grande are urging that a individual who jumped a fence and grabbed the celebrity during Thursday's Wicked: For Good debut be arrested or expelled from Singapore.

A viral video depicts the individual from Australia pushing past camera operators and lunging at Grande while the cast made its way down a event pathway accompanied by supporters.

Co-star Cynthia Erivo promptly guided the stunned actress away from Mr Wen, who was observed being led away of the event by guards.

Mr Wen stated on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "released after being detained", though court documents revealed that he was scheduled to be present on the following morning. It is uncertain if he was formally accused.

Pattern of Incidents

This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Controversial Figure", has disrupted a celebrity gathering. His Instagram feed contains recordings of him interrupting other star-studded functions, including breaching the performance area at the artist's Sydney show in earlier this year and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers concert in the city last year.

"Measures must be taken applied against him as this is evidently a legal violation," wrote an Instagram user, in a reply to a video Mr Wen posted of his behavior.

"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" one Instagram user questioned.

Supporters Express Concern Over Grande's Past Trauma

Several supporters blamed Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had discussed suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after a suicide bomb attack at the conclusion of her 2017 concert in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and wounding many.

"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" said a further comment on Instagram.

Several fans also faulted guards at the premiere for not being sufficiently alert; while others called for digital services to remove Mr Wen's content.

Aftermath and Event Details

In clips circulating online, Grande looked shocked when she was approached by the individual. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen consoling her while Mr Wen was escorted away by guards.

Grande has not commented on the incident, and the rest of the event carried on uninterrupted.

Many of fans had gathered in a sea of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good international debut in a Singapore mall, including some who had queued for as long as eight hours before it began.

The movie, to be launched on the 21st of November, is the follow-up of a two-film interpretation of the popular theatrical production Wicked, which centers on the unexpected relationship between two very different sorceresses.

The production itself is a spin-off of the 1900 book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

Grande, who portrays the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was dressed in a champagne pink sequin dress at the premiere while Erivo, who plays the wicked witch, wore a black tube gown decorated with roses.

They were accompanied by co-star Jeff Goldblum.

The initial film, Wicked, was the top-earning motion picture of 2024 in the UK, and received ten Academy Award nods, securing a pair for outstanding attire and production design.
