American entertainer Pat Finn, who featured in popular television series such as "Friends", Seinfeld and The Middle, has died aged 60.
The comedy and improvisation performer succumbed at his home in Los Angeles, California recently having undergone treatment for a cancer diagnosis since 2022, according to news outlets.
"He considered no one a stranger - only friends he had yet to meet," his relatives stated in a statement.
They continued that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with zest and passion".
An Extensive Television Career
His initial on-screen part was on a show starring George Wendt in the mid-90s, where he appeared as the lead character's sibling.
He also had a repeating character on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.
He appeared as Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, playing a party host who would assign unpleasant chores to his guests.
In the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he had guest spots on a variety of popular shows, including:
- "King of Queens"
- "Friends"
- "That '70s Show"
- House
Finn was perhaps best known for portraying the character Bill Norwood in "The Middle", starring in eight seasons of the show from 2011 to 2018.
His cinematic roles include It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).
A Life in Improv
Beyond his on-screen roles, Finn was a skilled improviser and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.
He was part of a six-person improv troupe called Beer Shark Mice.
"Pat guided, supported, and advised many learners over the years and it's nearly impossible to find a person anyplace who has an unkind word to say about him," his loved ones expressed.
In a tribute, fellow actor Richard Kind remarked there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, authentic human being you could encounter".
"Perpetually optimistic, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A wonderful father and man," Kind wrote online.
The actor is survived by his partner Donna, his three kids, and his family.
