Brian Eno Encourages Support to Get Palestinian Solidarity Track to UK Festive Top Spot.
A campaign is aiming to launch a cultural melody to the Christmas number one spot. The campaign aims to send support to communities in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian cultural expression.
A Chance for Unity and an "Unlikely Coup"
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a chance to support Palestinians during the holidays. He remarked the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“That would be amazing if that happened, yes,” he commented. “I’m not gonna be completely disappointed if it doesn’t, festive releases are a thing unto themselves.”
Resilient Spirit of Freedom and Dignity
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the version of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's resilient spirit.
“It occupies a very special place for many individuals,” Barghouti said. “The message is that I would prefer a dignified death than spend my life without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we seek to lead a dignified life that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Track's Background and Contributing Musicians
The track was produced following a solidarity show held in the autumn. Originally intended to be captured during the live event, the performance was shelved during the concert due to scheduling overruns.
The notable list of performers contributing to Lullaby includes a range of acclaimed names from the scene. All participated in the September show, which managed to collect a significant sum for relief efforts.
Production and Release
Lullaby was brought to life by a group of producers and composers. The single features a fusion of the traditional Arabic lyrics with contemporary English verses.
The group managing the campaign have stated that their aim is to collect the highest amount for a dedicated fund. These resources will be channeled to projects in Palestine through an non-profit partner.
“We don’t have a fixed goal,” a figure said. “We will pursue as much as possible. Of course, the greater the amount, the better. All proceeds are directed out to those in need in Gaza.”
The context in the territory was noted for its extreme devastation, with a vast majority of property described as levelled or seriously harmed.
“Against that backdrop, a handful of millions doesn’t make an enormous impact. But I think what truly matters is primarily spreading knowledge of this plight and demonstrating the human dimension of the story.”
The single 'Lullaby' is launching at the end of the week. Additionally, a video of the benefit event will be made accessible to view on a digital service from later in the month.
