It's difficult for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a squad that has accomplished all there is.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, taking back their record for the biggest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the bowlers that have represented Australia over five decades.

It is hard for their batsmen to maintain a record if not provided the possibility.

Ultimately, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy being given an opportunity to create her latest masterpiece.

Originally famous as the teenage relative of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after Australia didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has seen it all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 World Cup win happened three months after her debut and seven world titles have resulted from 10 tries across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India temporarily stopped the winning streak.

That loss "drove us to reevaluate our levels," Healy stated recently.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the championship match and was named player of the tournament. She ensured her country would not come up short.

If this recent magnificent innings surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Some will argue the case for final game tension. Different voices suggest with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this hundred was much more difficult to anticipate.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this performance followed six innings in India over the past few weeks in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in practice sessions, it was a frustrating experience because it seemed my form was missing completely," stated Healy.

"However when you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts activate and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's competitiveness has continuously been her major advantage - and an invaluable trait in succeeding legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the emerging pace bowler in all three matches, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's inspiration.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and from there the batsman was in motion.

"An opportunity to take the field and face the challenge with her and merely enjoy the moment in that regard, sort of got me going," said Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 balls - her fastest at a World Cup - and her ton in 84 as she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three sixes.

When she was dismissed her side required another 66 at one run per ball - an unconquered height now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is uncharted waters so I'm happy we have the assurance to do that now," added Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, should it happen, we believe we can succeed."

That comment will be the last competing nations at this tournament need to hear.

During the last week a belief they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this success following win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before an encounter with longtime competitors England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

It was in the semi-finals they exited the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - an encounter Healy missed because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the inaugural occasion at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she subsequently stated she regretted not playing with the discomfort.

However although she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have postponed consideration of ending her career, this championship is likely to be her final tournament as skipper in 50-over cricket and she is yet to win a global event as captain.

Triumph in India would lead her to the peak of her last major obstacle.
